Heather Tuach

Cellist Heather Tuach has appeared at major concert halls including Wigmore Hall, Carnegie Hall and Kings Place and has made recordings for Linn Records and Divine Art Records. Heather joined the Greenwich Trio in 2018 and previously was a member of the Fitzwilliam String Quartet. With the Fitzwilliam, Heather toured North America, Europe and South Africa; She appeared live on BBC Radio 3's ‘In Tune’ and was in residence at the University of St Andrews, Scotland, Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge and Bucknell University, Pennsylvania.
Heather can be heard on a number of recordings including Bruckner String Quartet and Quintet (Linn Records, 2015), which received 5/5 stars from BBC Music Magazine. Her recording with pianist Patil Harboyan, Music from Armenia for Cello and Piano (Divine Art Records, 2014), has been called ‘A delightful disc of discoveries’ (Jeremy Nicholas, Gramophone Magazine). In 2015, the duo performed Music from Armenia at Carnegie Hall, New York. Heather most recently recorded Intricate Web (Metier, 2017), which includes the solo cello suite, "Reflections of an Eccentric English Artist," by British composer Liz Johnson. She has since performed the Suite in concerts in Birmingham, UK and Newfoundland, Canada.
Heather launched her own professional chamber music series in 2019, 60min Concerts. Based in Highbury and Islington, London, it features the Greenwich Trio and other local musicians. She is also a Trustee of The Susanne Beer Cello Corner Foundation, which supports young musicians through fine instrument loans and enabling performance opportunities.
Heather has close ties with her home province of Newfoundland. In 2018, she performed at the Gros Morne Summer Music Festival. For the 2016-17 season, she filled in as principal cellist of the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra and cellist of the Atlantic String Quartet. On the other side of the Island, in Corner Brook, Heather is artistic director of Wintertide Music Festival, an annual week-long festival of classical chamber music.
Heather studied at Memorial University of Newfoundland, with Antonio Lysy at McGill University, Montreal, at the International Menuhin Music Academy, Switzerland and with Colin Carr at Stony Brook University, New York, where she completed a Doctorate of Music in 2009.
Heather's cello was made by Yorkshire luthier Roger Hansell.
